Evacuation Systems

Evacuation Systems in Greater Sydney

What Are Evacuation Systems?

Evacuation systems combine audible and visual alarms to alert building occupants that there is an emergency. You can also choose to have a pre-recorded message play to help direct everyone out of the building.

Trained Wardens

Once you have these systems in place, you will need to have a trained warden on the floor who understands the system completely and can help manage the orderly evacuation of everyone in the building.

In the advent of a fire, building occupants need to be alerted quickly so they can take prompt action to control the fire from spreading. The emergency warning and intercom systems are a means of communication to assist in the control of evacuation procedures during emergencies.

Suppose a Detection and/or Suppression system alarm goes off. In that case, the selected warning signal (audible and/or visual) will be automatically activated on those floors where the alert originated, where house wardens and deputies are normally located.

If an evacuation were to take place, the Floor or Area Wardens should be familiar with all aspects of their respective areas of responsibility regarding the location of the fire alarms, emergency warning intercommunication system and other communication devices, exits and alternate means of egress, the existence of dead-end corridors, blind passages, obscure rooms, etc. and the location and use of fire fighting.

Multi-Zone Evacuation

Large sites are usually divided into evacuation zones of manageable areas – fire compartments, floor levels etc. Multiphase can set up each zone with its speaker system that can provide background music, alerts & evacuation tones, and a public address facility. Visual alarms may be an added option.

We can also provide warden intercom points in each zone for wardens to communicate using an emergency intercom. Secondary emergency control panels and remote paging consoles can be set up to allow public addresses to all the zones.

Single Zone Evacuation

Small and medium sites can be zoned. Hence an emergency warning system can be less elaborate. Multiphase recommends a self-contained tone generator and speaker with which alert evacuation tones, such as fire alarm bells, are provided.

An effective emergency system will be an invaluable tool in the process of timely evacuation.
